The Perth Guitar Quartet (Jonathan Fitzgerald, Don Candy, Melissa Fitzgerald, Jameson Feakes) presents the opening concert of the 2023 Perth International Classical Guitar Festival. Electroluminescence - Fringe World Festival 2022

Electroluminescence is an immersive multimedia concert of works for electric guitar, electronics, and visual projections. The program features world premiere performances of three new commissions from Australian and international composers, including two-time Aria Award winning composer James Ledger (WA), Gulli Bjornsson (Iceland), and emerging composer Victor Arul (WA), alongside the Australian premiere of works by Eve Beglarian (USA), Alison Isadora (NZ), and Jacob TV (Netherlands).

Performed by award winning guitarist Jonathan Fitzgerald, Electroluminescence explores the interaction of sound and vision, unconventional performance techniques, and challenges what it means to play the guitar.

Electroluminescence is presented as part of the 2022 Fringe World Festival with support from Tura New Music.

Perth International Classical Guitar Festival

In 2018, the UWA Conservatorium is delighted to bring together International Artists, current staff, celebrated alumni, Western Australia’s emerging young artists and community ensembles to launch the first Perth International Classical Guitar Festival.

Over 5 days, enjoy a jam-packed program featuring local, national and international artists such as Craig Ogden, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Josinaldo Costa and the Perth Guitar Quartet. Be treated to a variety of performances from soloists, duos and ensembles, as well as the Australian Premier of Andy Scott’s Concerto for Guitar and Chamber Orchestra (2017), commissioned by the UWA Conservatorium of Music. The Festival will also include masterclasses, workshops, open rehearsals and demonstrations – allowing you to dive in and immerse yourself in all things guitar!
